An Introduction:

Before you decide to read what we have to say we'll preface it with this: we love the games of football (soccer) and basketball, more than most things in the world. Our fanaticism for the sport, shows no bounds.We have absolutely no experience with blogs or blogging but, what we lack experience, we have in spirit, passion and decent writing ability. Feel free to read what we have to say and comment on it. Agree or disagree, all opinions are welcome here, even if they represent teams we dislike. Thank you for your time and welcome to the wonderful world of Follies, Fortunes, & Fanaticism.

Fabulous Fortunes, Flagrant Follies, and Freakish Fanaticism

Due to life happening, including; working at graduating college, a deer totaling of my car, losing people close to me and the never ending girl problems, needless to say it has been a long time since any posts have gone up here. Today or, I should say tonight, that all changes.

First things first. In the tradition of this blog it is time to show Follies, Fortunes, & Fanaticism, to which I am particularly excited for because I'm going to change it up a bit.

I want to restart with Fortunes witnessed from this past weekend, starting with a wonder goal from my New York Red Bulls. A goal down in the final game of the season with many things on the line, the French Captain put the team on his back and produced a goal of season candidate;

Up next for Fortunes, is a lovely taste of things to come as the NBA preseason comes to a close, the much anticipated start to a fresh, new season is at hand. Until the madness begins on Tuesday, with the opening game between the Magic and Pacers, the good doctor is prescribing us, twitching for things to get underway, a does of highlights:
In the reckless pursuit of being bias, my Uconn homie, Kemba Walker's off the backboard alley to Cody Zeller is definitely a personal highlight for the preseason... because lord knows that the Celtic's form was not that good. Anyways, this seems to perfectly transition into the next category of these posts, Follies. I believe that the first to receive props on their failure department should go to English Premier League, Manchester United. In an attempt to hype up the very real, young talent that is Adnan Januzaj, (say that five times fast) Manchester United's marketing team committed a rather foolish error:
Now what does that symbol above his head resemble? #SwastikaUnited
Next on the Follies honorable mentions is other Manchester team, City. On Sunday, Manchester City took on Chelsea in Stamford Bridge. After Serigo Aguero secured his team a tie in glorious fashion, a rather peculiar event occurred towards the end of the game that handed Chelsea three points.

Another Folly that had me laughing was the defensive display of Utah Jazz rookie, Scott Machado. Just watch what CP3 does do this poor, poor newcomer. As a side note, I need to add in a comment about how I think it was very disheartening to see our longtime coach, Doc Rivers leave to join a team that cannot, will not, shall not win an trophy next season. Enjoy your sick plays you destined-to-fail-team.

The final segment of this three act performance comes in the form of my favorite category, Fanaticism. The most bizarre occurrence I have witnessed to this point surfaced at Stamford Bridge recently. I don't even know where to start with justifying or explaining what this is about, but here it is:

Yes, face paint, black robes, creepy symbols and synchronized chanting. Illuminati?
On a more goonish note, Borussia Dortmund, a team renowned for having some of the most impressive displays of fandom unfortunately earned themselves a red card over this past week. From the tearing up of seats in their recent Champions League visit to Arsenal to this recent hooliganistic (run with it!) display in a darby game with Shalke. The away fans went from chanting, to screaming, to jumping, to lighting off flares, to tearing up seats to forcing the referee to stop the game until things calmed down. I wish I could show a video of this but, sadly a good one has not surfaced. If it does, watch it.

Just before the game had to be stopped
 To end Follies, Fortunes, & Fanaticism tonight, my final addition to this post is a video that surfaced recently of ex-German superstar Franz Beckenbauer. I don't know if this is some sort of very weird promotional video for a product or Beckenbauer going insane in his old age. Just watch:

Yes he did indeed just talk about an intergalactic football-soccer match. Is it going to happen? No. Could it happen someday? I hope so. Would it be awesome? Resounding yes. I just hope I'm around to see it. With that last lovely bit of information, my post ends and I am going to past out. Goodnight people!

P.S.
